Reflection

In this project, we are required to produce sketches of spaces located in Taylors University. I've chosen the exterior view of open space and building of the main office. Interior views are library's shelves and staircases. This exercise is designed to develop our skills in techniques of toning, line and composition sketch based on the selected images from our previous sketchbook, four sketches are to be produced. Hatching techniques such as stippling, cross-hatching, one-directional hatching and scribbling were learnt and applied into the final submission sketches.

Project: 2

Project 2A- Orthographic drawings: plans, sections, elevations

PART 1

We are required to select a furniture architecture table), with measured dimensions. Pencil drawing to be produced in butter paper and technical pen on tracing paper.

Required drawings are

-Top view

-Two side views

-One section

PART 2

Orthographic drawings of selected building are to be produced. Floor plans, Elevations and Section drawings. Cooper Residence.

Demonstrate in pencil and ink:

-  line types

-  line weights

-  line quality

-  hand lettering

and identify and apply architectural conventions and symbols.

Project 2B- Axonometric projection

In this drawing, we are required to produce architectural detail in three-dimension, in the format of an axonometric projection. To understand and identify the exploded and combination of the elements of the building.

Project 2C- Perspectives

We are to construct one exterior (two-point) perspective followed by one sectional interior perspective (one- point). Identification of interesting perspectives are required and demonstrate the spatial idea in 3-D form, understanding of 2-D and 3-D relationships in architectural graphics, skills in drawing and composition such as lineweights, creativity and complexity of drawing. Landscape are to included to show the location and site of the building.

Reflection

In this project, I able to demonstrate drafting skills in modern and traditional methods of architectural drawing after tutorials I've been through every week. Besides that, I able to record and present clear and legible architectural information manually including architectural language and symbols. During tutorial sessions, we are distributed to different tutorial groups which I find it helpful when solving solutions as this building - Cooper residence had many similar concept as the other residence, confusions occur, teamwork. We distributed the tasks among our group members for completing the report and the presentation slides. Team work is also essential in this project. Lastly, I appreaciate that this module had taught me to construct architecture drawings accurately.

Finishing & Presentation

This project is integrated with Architecture studio 1. Orthographic drawings, Plans, Elevations, Section drawings, Axonometric projections are to be produced from the dreamspace that we created according to the narration that comes along with the design.

Reflection

In this project, we are to produce drawings from the dreamspace that we created from our personal narration. This coursework is quite challenging as most of us need to consider the architecture drawing symbol individually. Through several tutorials, I did manage to overcome these and also learnt to render to show the material used in the space for users to feel how they want it to felt in their personal working area. These drawings are learnt from the previous lectures in Design Communication which makes me easier to construct successful outcome in this project.
