Project 1
Exploring Urban Landscape
Tropical and Site Study
In a group of 5, students would conduct a primary research and exploration to develop an understanding of key terminologies in urban landscape and sustainability. Each group will explore ONE topic and will present their findings in oral presentation and later compile the findings in an A3 Report format The sub themes are as follow :
1. Urban Landscape Quality Index
2. Urban Ecology
3. Cityscape
4. Urban Public Space
5. Urban Economic
6. Urban Forest
Next, you will study the site given, and come up with site inventory and analysis. These findings will be presented together in class and compiled in an A3 Report format. The topics must include:-
- Site Location and Context
- Circulation
- Vegetation
- Macro and microclimate
- Topography and Drainage
- Soil Studies
- Hardscape and Utilities
Site Analysis Report
Urban Public Space Report
Project 2
Design Project
Continuing from Project 1, individually we need to propose a design solution to the urban scape and its context. Proposing the urban park for Kuala Lumpur Modern Art Museum in Brickfields. Synthesis the findings of site inventory and analysis taking into consideration the Site Location and Context, Circulation, Vegetation, Macro and microclimate, Topography and Drainage and Hardscape and Utilities. Highlight the innovations and sustainability of the proposal for the future. We are required to come up with a design proposal, programmes and report.

Reflection
Landscape has defined a portion of land that can be seen in a single view. In other word, landscape is a transformation between pictorial and direct representations of forms. Urban landscape design is a multidisciplinary approach to deal with the natural and built environment. In this project, students in groups of 5 will propose design solution to the given site to attain better understanding of urban landscape architecture; its nature, principles and terminologies. In this Project, I able to have an awareness of key terminologies of urban landscape, develop skills in visualizing space through observation and perception of a given site, develop skills in communicating the basic knowledge of sustainable urban landscape, to expand an understanding of the urban landscape issues and its impact in human life. Beside that, describe and identify the different key terminologies of urban landscape and its inter-relations with sustainability and Illustrate landscape architectural forms and spaces through visualization and expression of space in the form of presentation.
