Project 1

To explore and examine energy efficient features of existing building

Energy efficient buildings reduces operational costs, and additionally improves durability, increases comfort and creates a healthy and safe indoor environment. A further goal of energy efficient buildings is to limit the negative impact to the ecosystem and reduce the use of natural resources like energy, land, water, and raw materials. Reducing energy consumption is crucial as it reduces the buildings carbon footprint. Energy efficient measures can be integrated into new construction or retrofitted into an existing building. Fortunately, there are many methods, materials, and resources to help designers, and architects towards creating an energy efficient and high-performance building.
The tasks are to research, write and present (research poster/power point) on the energy efficient feature that is incorporated an existing building locally. The themes or features are assigned from the list provided. Detailed analysis (incl. diagrammatic) of the feature and how it contributes in reducing energy /carbon footprint is of the building.

Project 2

To study selected existing building in Klang Valley and propose application of green building technologies to enhance sustainability of the building in local context

To select a building and gain access to it for research. The tasks are to do assessment based on GBI criteria or equivalent and to propose green building technologies to enhance the building design from the aspect of sustainability. The outcome of the study and proposal shall be in diagrams to present analysis of current design and their conceptual proposal. The project aims to conclude advantages and disadvantages of building with/ without green building technologies.

Project 3

Integration of Environmental & Technology considerations in Design Studio

This final project will bring forward findings of Project 1 and 2 to study the preliminary scheme of the CCDS project. The aim is to scrutinize the application of various aspect of environmental strategies and building structure in relation to design projects responded to site context, climate and technology. Based their final design and the E & T strategies on proposed, we are required produce brief report which demonstrate the ability to integrate considerations of environment and technology context in architectural design.
